Q & A
What is your artwork about? What do you hope to communicate through your art?
There are many dimensions to the art that is being channeled through me and yet one simple message: Your inner world creates your outer world. It is my desire that these images promote inward reflection and outward expression of ourselves as an infinite, expansive being of light.
How is a mandala used as a tool in a meditative practice?
The way they are used is as varied as the individuals who use them. In other words, there is no right or wrong way to incorporate mandalas into a meditative practice. I can share from my own experience a few guidelines to start with and from there, you can make it your own:
- Open eyed meditations are extremely helpful. I'm sure this seems obvious. What is less obvious is the incredible vibration of energy that resonates from sacred geometry, whether seen or unseen. Visual stimulation enhances this harmonic energy which then allows the mind to relax. With the mind content, and not on guard, we create an opening for thoughts and emotions to surface without judging them.
- Set an intention of openness and allow all of your armor to fall away. Then, give yourself permission to become completely lost in this sacred circle. Let your eyes wander wherever they will then lead them to the center and out again. Notice your thoughts and feelings as both sides of your brain are being stimulated. If any contractive thoughts or feelings appear for you, just welcome them fully. Embrace them and then escort the thoughts or feelings like a queen to the center of the mandala. Allow them to bask in their true essence for awhile. Allow the contractive thoughts or feelings to become suffused with pure love and the light of your own being. Then, see them become an expansion of Source as they move to the outside of the circle.
Hang your mandala in a place where you will see it often. You will reap the benefit of its inherent harmonic vibration and consistently remind yourself that your inner world is beautifully balanced.
How do you receive the information?
For me, the information mostly comes in the language of math, layer upon layer. I ask for and receive .numbers that support the intention or function of the form. These numbers then are expressed visually and before I know it, a mandala is born.
